2025 Mighty Leopard Award Winners

Since 2015, through your generosity and participation, the Donald Asmonga Foundation has awarded $79,000 in scholarships to 45 outstanding student athletes at Belle Vernon Area High School.

Katie Sokol and Trevor Kovatch

Katie Sokol competed in softball player and served as Team Captain and a member of WPIAL championship team. Katie plans to attend PennWest California University and major in Early Childhood Education.

Trevor Kovatch competed in soccer, golf, basketball, and track & field. He graduates as the all-time leading goal scorer in BVA Boys soccer history. Trevor was a member of BVA's WPIAL championship teams in golf (2024 as a junior) and basketball (2025 as a senior). He will play soccer and major in Business & Economics at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg.

Taylor McDaniel and Dominic Ghilani

Taylor McDaniel competed in volleyball and served as Team Captain. She plans to attend Slippery Rock University and major in Psychology.

Dominic Ghilani competed in football (captain), basketball (captain), and track & field. Dominic played on BVA's back-to-back WPIAL and State championship football teams (2024 & 2025) and WPIAL championship basketball team in 2025. He will play football and major in Business Marketing and Minor in Business Finance at Case Western Reserve University.
